Nathaniel “88 Nate” Banks is a veteran record producer, film & television executive, and entertainment promoter with more than four decades of impact across music, culture, and visual storytelling. Born in Camden, New Jersey, Banks began his journey as a DJ before quickly transitioning into promotion and artist development after linking with DJ Jazzy Jeff and Will Smith early in his career.
He founded ShowJazz Promotions, producing breakthrough events across the Delaware Valley and helping introduce iconic artists such as Queen Latifah, Big Daddy Kane, Public Enemy, and LL Cool J. He later expanded into label leadership with ShowJazz Records, signing genre-shaping acts and building a reputation as a powerful connector between artists, audiences, and opportunities.
Over the years, Banks has promoted major national events—including the NBA All-Star Weekend—and collaborated with top talent like Salt-N-Pepa, Eric B., Bahamadia, Slim Thug, and Beanie Sigel. His work behind the scenes continues to influence the evolution of hip-hop and urban entertainment.
Today, Banks partners with filmmaker Thomas Freeman Jr. on projects that highlight and preserve hip-hop history, including the documentary “You Can’t Forget About New Jersey”, the acclaimed series Chase Street, and documentaries such as “America’s Most Dangerous City” and “Hip-Hop Great Migration.”
